Xbox has announced a new policy for players through error “0x82d60002” where all unofficial accessories will be blocked. Starting November 12, 2023, any unofficial device that is connected to the Xbox will no longer respond.

This new error “0x82d60002” has recently started appearing for players who have an unlicensed device, showing that the controller will no longer be supported from November onwards. The news took many players by surprise, as this problem did not happen before and many people will have to buy official products to continue using the console.

Xbox responded to Windows Central, commenting that this action is to ensure the safety of players, as unofficial products do not meet the necessary quality.

“Accessories from Microsoft and other licensed Xbox hardware partners are designed and manufactured to quality standards for performance, safety and security. Unauthorized accessories can compromise the gaming experience on Xbox consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S). Players may receive a pop-up warning that their accessory is unauthorized. Eventually, the unauthorized accessory will be blocked to preserve the gaming experience on the console,” Microsoft responded.

List of licensed products

Official products, in addition to those purchased directly from the Xbox brand, come in two categories: Licensed and Designed For Xbox. Licensees are those that Microsoft is directly involved in producing or setting product quality standards, while Designed For Xbox are companies that are part of the partner program and also follow high quality standards.

Licensed products are available on the official Microsoft store, in the accessories section. Designed For Xbox can be found at retailers, with a list of partner brands available on the official website. Among the partner brands are:
