WhatsApp develops a new text editor to decorate images. The WABetaInfo website found evidence in the app’s experimental version of a new editing tool that, in general terms, equates the messenger with the native Instagram feature.
- WhatsApp finally lets you undelete a message
- New WhatsApp shortcuts make group management easier
The new text editor is far from super-complete, but it’s certainly more robust than the current solution. The new tool has options for alignment, font style, color and background color available in a more intuitive interface.
The new options are laid out in a way that’s pretty familiar to anyone using Instagram’s editing tool, but even first-time users shouldn’t take long to understand how the editor works. The advantage of having a tool full of options is that it gives you more editing options from the app itself, saving the user from using other programs to put text on the screen.
Currently, even testers cannot try the new WhatsApp text editor. The tool was found in development in version 184.108.40.206 of WhatsApp Beta for Android, available only for testers, but disabled by default.
For now, there is no forecast for the launch of the WhatsApp editing tool. The addition is important and will enhance the overall app experience, so it shouldn’t be long before it’s released to everyone.
