Samsung launches Odyssey Neo G7 monitor with Mini LED, 43 inches and 144 Hz

Samsung has just updated its line of gaming monitors with the new Odyssey Neo G7 model. The product stands out for being the first representative of the brand with Mini LED technology on a flat panel, bringing other already established differentials such as support for movie and game streaming services.

It has a 43-inch screen with 4K resolution and 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. There’s also VESA Display HDR600 certification, and support for HDR 10+.

Samsung highlighted its Quantum Matrix Technology, which uses Quantum Mini LEDs for precise control of densely packed LEDs. In practice, this means that the panel is capable of delivering deeper blacks, greater color expressiveness and finer details, including during games.

The Odyssey Neo G7’s refresh rates top out at 144Hz, with MPRT responses of 1ms. Support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro is also available, which synchronizes frames and prevents unwanted effects such as ghosting.

Odyssey Neo G7 is monitor and TV at the same time

In addition to its typical monitor features, the Odyssey Neo G7 can also function as a smart TV. For this, it has native support for the most popular streaming applications, such as Netflix, YouTube or Prime Video.

The monitor doesn’t even require connection to a console or PC to run games, as there is compatibility with apps like Xbox and Nvidia GeForce Now. Cloud gaming services offer many famous titles without the need for heavy downloads.

Users can also activate the Samsung Game Bar, which is built into the monitor system. It’s a tool to view and change parameters like frame rates (FPS), aspect ratio, HDR, VRR and more.

The monitor’s construction features DisplayPort and HDMI 2.1 ports, as well as two USB-A 3.0 ports. However, the lack of USB-C ports may leave some fans disappointed.

The frame is also VESA-certified for wall mounting, while the presence of 20W internal speakers eliminates the need for extra audio devices.

price and availability

Samsung said the monitor will go on sale in the first quarter of this year, but availability will vary by region. The company has not yet quoted the official price of the Odyssey Neo G7.
