Poco X5 Pro will have 120 Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 778G and aggressive price

Xiaomi is preparing for the coming weeks the launch of a new intermediate cell phone, now betting on a fluid screen, a large battery and a fast Qualcomm processor to compete in a segment full of good options with the future Poco X5 Pro.

  • Xiaomi 13 has the brightest screen among Android phones
  • Alleged Redmi Note 12 Turbo may have new Snapdragon 7 and on-screen biometrics

Equipped with the popular Snapdragon 778G chipset, information provided by leaker Yogesh Brar indicates that this could probably be the cheapest cell phone with the processor, combined with configurations of up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage.

The Poco X5 Pro will feature an AMOLED technology display with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth navigation and more responsive games, as well as support for 10-bit color depth.

To complete its outstanding trio, the smartphone should offer a 5,000 mAh battery with support for fast charging at 67 W. This is the same configuration found on the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G that takes 42 minutes to complete its battery from 0% to 100%.

The intermediate will have two years of Android updates and three years of security updates, being launched with Android 12 and MIUI 14 interface. Consumers will be able to buy it in Black, Blue and Yellow colors.

Given the similarity between the technical sheet of the future Poco X5 Pro and the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition recently launched in China, we expect the Poco smartphone to be based on the Redmi model, with minimal changes.

Xiaomi has already started promoting the “new Poco X series”, but the meeting with fans scheduled for January 22 did not present any news. Official details will be released soon.
