New WhatsApp shortcuts make group management easier

WhatsApp started releasing the new exclusive shortcuts for group admins. As of version 23.1.75, owners of group chats can tap and hold on members’ phone numbers to open a special interaction tray and access important functions, such as starting a call or private chat or adding the contact to the phonebook.

The new WhatsApp shortcuts don’t open the way to anything new, but they are of great help to administrators who need to keep an eye on the movement of the conversation. Now, instead of navigating the “Contact Info” section and accessing buttons like “Chat” or “Call”, just tap and hold on the number to have the tools at hand.

As shown by the prints from the WABetaInfo website, which released the feature, the new interactions tray gives access to the “Talk to [número]”, “Call using WhatsApp” and “Add to Contacts” by tapping and holding on a member’s number displayed on the chat screen.

Making it easy for administrators

In practice, the addition is small, but should improve the overall experience of WhatsApp users. Messenger shortcuts will make life easier for administrators, especially when managing conversations with 1024 participants or Communities (still unavailable in Brazil).

Although WhatsApp has released the news for the stable version of the app, not all users are able to access it yet. The functionality is probably gradually unlocked, perhaps by server authorization.

In any case, it’s good to keep the application up to date to be able to access the function as soon as it is released to you. To do this, check the App Store for pending builds and download them when you have time.
