With the launch of NVIDIA DLSS for Starfield, new benchmarks reveal that the game’s performance is better on the NVIDIA GPU than on the AMD graphics card. This is because Bethesda made the game optimized for Radeon graphics cards, in addition to initial support for all AMD technologies.
In tests carried out by CapFrameX, published on X (Twitter), the GeForce RTX 4090 had 8% less performance than the Radeon RX 7900 XTX at launch. However, after the arrival of DLSS, the performance of the RTX 4090 increased to 23% more than the RX 7900 XTX.
For greater transparency, CapFrameX revealed that the test was not carried out on identical CPUs, however Starfield has a majority GPU consumption, so the impact is low – but it still exists. But overall, Starfield managed an average of 97 FPS on the RTX 4090, while on the RX 7900 XTX the value was 78.7 FPS.
Remembering that Starfield is now available for PC and Xbox Series X|S, in addition to availability on Xbox Game Pass. Regarding GPU technologies, it is important to check driver updates on the AMD and NVIDIA websites, for Radeon and GeForce respectively.
