Bug in WhatsApp prevented adjustment of privacy options

WhatsApp will end support for almost 50 cell phones at the turn of the year

An apparent problem on the WhatsApp servers prevented users from changing the visibility of the “Online” status in the app this Tuesday (31). According to a report on the WABetaInfo website, the issue affects the iOS version in multiple regions.

It is not known what causes the problem, but the other features of the messenger continue to operate normally. If you are affected, you should receive a warning message when you change privacy settings related to app usage status (“Last seen” and “Who can see when I’m online”).

If your privacy preference already hid “Online” from other users, it didn’t reappear — the only difference is that you couldn’t change it if you wanted to.

Problem solved

The complaints about the bug started around 2 am this Tuesday (Brasília time). Apparently the issue was resolved around 4:50am. On Android, no complaints related to the problem were registered.
